DESCRIPTION

Donn Cunningham is no good at baseball. This doesn’t stop him from crafting an elaborate fantasy in which he is starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants. When his classmate Steve discovers this imaginary life and threatens to expose it to all their friends, Donn is faced with the choice of giving in to the intimidation or finding some way to outwit the bully. Ultimately, both Donn and Steve learn that anyone — even a bully — can change their stripes. --Toronto International Film Festival

ABOUT THE DIRECTORS

Carlos Baena

Carlos Baena was born in the Canary Islands. He was raised in Madrid, and came to the US to study film and animation in 1994. Upon graduating in 1998, he worked on commercials and animation for a CG short film until he was hired by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) in 2001. At ILM, Carlos worked as a computer animator on Jurassic Park 3 and Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. In 2002, Carlos left ILM to work for Pixar on films such as Cars, WALL-E and Toy Story 3. Carlos co-founded the online school of animation education, AnimationMentor.com. He lives in San Francisco and Play by Play is his directing debut.

Sureena Mann was born in England. She moved to California with her family and later attended film school in San Francisco. She joined the editorial team at Industrial Light and Magic, culminating in getting to be an extra in Star Wars Episodes II: Attack of the Clones and working in editorial on Star Wars Episodes III: Revenge of the Sith.
